Signs Your Water Heater Needs Maintenance

Columbus Water Heater RepairWater heaters need to be maintained in order to increase its longevity. Having regular maintenance performed on your water heater can prevent damages. Water heater maintenance is necessary to avoid spending money to replace the entire heater. There are several warning signs to let you know when maintenance is needed.

One warning sign is increase in time it takes for water to heat. If you start spending more time than normal for your water to heat up, this is a sign that your heater needs maintenance. Your water heating element may need to be looked at by a professional.

The second sign that your water heater needs maintenance is a color to your water. If your water starts to look rusty, murky, cloudy or brownish then there could be a buildup of minerals and the bottom of your tank needs to be cleaned out.

A couple of obvious signs that confirm you need maintenance are any type of leak and loud noises. If you notice a leak coming from your tank then maintenance needs to be done immediately before further damage occurs. This could be a sign of more leaking pipes. Also, water heaters should not make loud noises at all. If you ever hear an increase in noise or popping sounds then your heater should be looked at.

One last sign is if you notice your water isn’t getting as hot as usual. Avoid changing your heater settings to make up for the loss of heat. This could just make the problem worse when a little maintenance can easily fix it.

Water heaters are one of the most used appliances in your home. Every water element of your home uses the heater to maintain water temperatures. To avoid having to replace your water heater sooner than later, regular maintenance needs to be performed at the first sign of a problem.
