Ductless Mini-Split Installation
Flexible Options for Cooling Your Home or Business
Ductless mini-split AC systems, also referred to as “mini-splits,” have been around for quite a long time. These systems were first introduced in Japan a few years back and then became popular in other countries. The biggest reason why these air conditioning units are preferred by households, offices, and establishments is that they are not as noisy as other AC units.
Mini-split systems are also compact in size and are flexible, as you can place them anywhere in the room that is to be cooled or heated. Most of these units are equipped with their own thermostat so they need to condition the air only when someone is occupying the room. This helps you conserve energy and money!
Their installation is also easy compared to other AC systems. We often resort to these units when we encounter office units or homes that don’t have sufficient ductwork to install a central HVAC system.
At McAtee Plumbing Heating & Cooling, our team of ductless mini-split installation experts has over 60 years of combined experience. We are all fully licensed, bonded, and insured, and will arrive on-time with a fully-stocked truck.

How Ductless Mini-Split Systems Work
These systems have an indoor evaporator and an exterior compressor unit that can be installed 50-100 feet away from the evaporator unit. The interior unit houses the fan, cooling coils, and controls to which you can also add blowers per your individual needs. You can install the interior unit of a mini-split AC system above a window or below the ceiling depending on your needs. Some units can also be installed on the floor or near the bottom of the wall.
Compared to central AC systems, there are no ducts in mini-splits. Only a narrow conduit is used for connecting the inner and outer units. In the absence of any duct, there are no duct heat losses either. In fact, some units can also operate as heat pumps and can provide both heating and cooling. They are easy to install, secure, and versatile in zoning and outlining. Best of all, ductless mini-split AC systems are eco-friendly and help you in saving energy since they offer zone cooling capabilities.
Reasons to Consider a Ductless-Mini Split AC System
In addition to their energy-efficiency and the fact that you don’t need to install additional ductwork, there are many other reasons why we recommend these types of units.
You should consider ductless mini-split AC system installation because:
- You won’t have to fight over temperature settings anymore—each room can be set to a different temperature
- You will breathe better with improved air quality because air doesn’t need to pass through dirty ductwork
- You will save money because they require less energy and you don’t have to cool any unused rooms

Although mini-splits can be a bit more expensive than portable or window air conditioning units, they cost much less than central AC units. They are best if you are interested in cooling just a few rooms. In fact, you can buy one unit per zone at a time if you want to save on energy bills.
