What Is Hydro Jetting?
Hydro jetting is one of the most effective ways to clean out pipe blockages of all types. The process uses water forced out of a hose at pressures up to 4,000 psi. In contrast to snaking, which merely punches a hole in the blockage, hydrojetting thoroughly scours the inside of your pipes, leaving them squeaky clean.
The effectiveness of hydro jetting is due to its unique method of operation. The pressure of the rotating water jets forcing their way into the pipe pulls the hose forward, while the backflow of the water draws debris out of the pipe. The process is capable of removing the toughest tree roots and the most stubborn blockages. We’ve been able to use it to restore water flow to pipes where other methods have failed.
Common Causes of Blockages
Think about how much you put down your drain. As you continue to use your plumbing system on a daily basis, such byproducts accumulate until they become a tar-like sludge that causes a blockage within your pipe.
Our Charleston hydro jetting specialists commonly see clogs due to the following:
- Excess toilet paper
- Foreign objects
- Grease
- Soap scum
- Hair
- Food particles
- Sediment
- Mineral coatings
Tree roots can also cause problems for your pipes. If a pipe has a fissure or loose joint, water vapor will seep out into the cooler soil around it. Because tree roots are attracted to moisture, they will gravitate toward the pipe. Upon reaching the source of the moisture, tree roots send out tendrils that insert themselves into the crack in your pipe and then continue growing within your plumbing system.
As the tree roots grow within your pipes, they send out fine hair-like strands that can act as a net to catch grease, food particles, and hair. The mass of miniature tree roots is enough to cause a blockage all by itself. Additionally, tree roots can grow over time to be as big as the pipeline, which can lead to such extensive damage that the only possible solution is an expensive pipe replacement.
